Why would you want just a writing desk, when you can have a fancy escritoire?... Exactly.
Escritoire is a writing desk with compartments and drawers, concealed by a hinged flap, on a chest of drawers or plain stand.
Word origin: from French, from Medieval Latin scriptōrium writing room in a monastery, from Latin scrībere to write.

I love surrounding myself with antiques. I believe old pieces of furniture have soul. They help me connect with my creative energy. Obviously, not everyone can own a historical piece - they tend to be very pricey! What you can do, if you like periodic style, is search for unwanted furniture from second hand stores for cheap and "pimp them up". Sometimes you can literally pick movables off the street and up-cycle them. Believe it, or not, there are many people, who hate aged furniture and all they want is to get rid of (it e.g. when they purchase a property). They would rather go for trendy & modern interiors and we can't blame them. At the same time, because of them, people like us are in luck. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and one man's trash is another man's treasure!
My DIY project. First, I painted it silver (fail), then I re-painted black with gold accents (more mature). I'm very proud of this piece!
