Brown is always in - from earthy clay to taupe, and from deep chocolate to caffee latte. What does brown mean in interior design? This restrained tone symbolizes safety and family heart, so it is ideal for cozy home interior designs. New York designer David Frazier predicted that “rich, chocolate browns will be popular in 2024" and we should Expect to see shades of this color all over interiors in 2024.

Brown can also be bold and brave - metallic accents can add a luxurious feel to any space. Introduce elements like copper or gold to complement your brown components. Copper and gold are especially complementary to warm earthy shades.

I'm slowly changing my light vanilla kitchen (it's an euphemism for most hated, renter-friendly magnolia) into an intensively deep truffle/chocolate cooking & dining facility. From Bahama morning breeze to Jamaican delight after 8! While looking for a paint to give my kitchen a makeover, I was heavily inspired by... my own hair. Well, not exactly "my own" as enhanced by URBAN BROWN Hair Dye by LIVE Schwarzkopf in number 088. I searched for depth, definition and richness and I found just the product! You can see before and after below.

Brown is the color of autumn, reflecting the beauty of nature's transformation. A room painted in shades of brown exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere. However A shift towards earthy tones reflects changing attitudes to environmental issues. Brown represents a connection to the natural world, reminding us to appreciate the simple joys in life. 'The color has a calming effect, allowing people to feel more connected with the earth and helping them to keep their feet quite literally on the ground,' says David Harris, the Design Director at Andrew Martin. In the psychology world, shades of brown are associated with feelings of comfort, peace and security. Experts in chromotherapy believe the colour brown can help to connect us to the earth and make us feel more grounded and calmer. Isn't that what we want from our homes, to feel cosy and comforting?

What is the 3 color rule in interior design?

The first color is your main color, the second color is still prominent, but not as much as the main color. The third color is your accent color that you use sparingly or sprinkled here and there. If you're into numbers you could break this down into 60%, 30%, and 10%.
